Answer

How much does MSP project management software cost?

Pricing splits into three models — bundled PSA modules, bolt-on planners, and dedicated platforms. Here's how to read them, plus Current's number.

It depends on which of three categories you buy. PSA-native project modules (Autotask, ConnectWise, HaloPSA) are bundled into your per-technician PSA license, so there's no separate line item. Bolt-on planners (like Moovila or Proxuma) are priced per user or by custom quote on top of your PSA. Dedicated modern platforms are priced per user per month. Current, for example, is $50 per user/month — or $45/month billed annually — for founding partners.

What actually drives the price

  • Per-seat vs per-technician vs flat: some tools charge every user, others only bill techs.
  • Included vs add-on features: native critical path, resource planning, and client portals are often gated to higher tiers or sold as separate SKUs.
  • PSA sync tier: MSP-grade two-way PSA sync frequently sits in a higher or contact-priced plan.
  • Minimums and contracts: seat minimums and annual commitments change the effective price more than the headline number does.

Current's pricing, plainly

Current keeps it to one number. Founding partners — the first 100 MSPs — lock $50 per user/month, or $540/year ($45/month billed annually), for life; list pricing is $95/$85. Every feature and integration is included at that price, there's a 3-seat minimum, a 14-day free trial, and unlimited free partner-portal viewers. It's SOC 2 Type II audited, and it runs alongside your PSA rather than replacing your billing — so you're not paying twice for the same invoicing.

The cheapest option on paper is whatever's already bundled in your PSA. The question is whether that bundled module actually does dependency-aware scheduling and critical path — because if it doesn't, you'll pay for an add-on anyway.

The questions that actually change the number

  • Per-user or per-technician? A per-tech model looks cheaper until sales, dispatch, and leadership need access.
  • Is PSA sync included, or is it the reason to upgrade a tier? This is the most common hidden cost in the category.
  • Are client or partner viewers billable? Giving customers visibility gets expensive fast if every viewer is a seat.
  • Is AI a surcharge, a tier, or included?
  • What is the seat minimum, and is there an annual commitment to get the advertised rate?
  • What does implementation cost, and is it optional?

Why sticker price is the wrong comparison

A cheaper tool that needs a paid connector for PSA sync, charges for client access, and gates the scheduling engine behind an upgrade is not cheaper. Price the configuration you would actually run, including every add-on you would end up buying in the first year, and compare that. The gap between advertised and real is usually widest in the category where the base plan omits the integration that makes the tool useful.

What Current costs

Current is 95 dollars per user per month, or 85 per user per month billed annually. The first 100 MSPs join as Founding Partners at 50 per user monthly, or 45 billed annually, and that rate is locked for as long as the subscription stays active. There is a 14-day free trial, a three-seat minimum, and no implementation fee.

Everything is included at that price: the CRM, the project and scheduling engine, every PSA and third-party integration, and the AI features. There are no tiers, no per-module licensing, and no AI surcharge. Partner-portal viewers are free and are never counted as billed seats, so giving clients visibility into their own projects costs nothing.

On security and diligence

Current is built and operated by IT Partners Plus LLC, a SOC 2 Type II audited operator, and every tenant's data is isolated at the database layer with row-level security. If your own clients ask diligence questions about the tools in your stack, that distinction between an audited operator and an unaudited product is worth having ready.
