Hide companies you no longer work with

3 min read · Updated Oct 22, 2026

To hide a company you no longer work with, mark it inactive in your PSA. The Companies list (Sales › Companies) starts on Status: Active, so after the next sync that company drops off the list on its own, and nothing about it is deleted. A company that lives only in Current can be deleted instead. The sections below cover both, and how to keep a narrower list as your default.

Mark it inactive in your PSA

Current reads the active or inactive flag your PSA keeps on each company (Autotask, ConnectWise, HaloPSA, Syncro, Rev.io or SuperOps) on every sync. Current doesn't have its own inactive switch for a synced company, and a synced company can't be deleted in Current, so the PSA is where you make the change.

  1. 1
Mark the company inactive in your PSA
Use your PSA's own active or inactive setting on the company.
  2. 2
Wait for the next company sync
The flag comes across with the rest of the company's details.
  3. 3
    Check the Status filter
On the Companies list, Status reads Active by default, so the company is no longer listed. Choose Inactive to see only the inactive ones, or All to see both; with All an inactive company carries an Inactive label beside its name.
Note
Where inactive companies still appear
The Status filter applies to the Companies list. Picking a company elsewhere, such as when you start an opportunity, still finds inactive ones, and a campaign audience has its own Company status filter that reads the same flag. The second number in the count at the top of the list is every company in the workspace, inactive ones included.

Narrow the list without changing the company

  • +The customers and prospects switch beside Status shows All, only customers (companies with an active contract or agreement in your PSA) or only Prospects.
  • +Owner (Mine, Unowned or a person), Type, Classification and Open opportunity narrow it further. Has open opportunity, for example, leaves only the companies someone is working.
  • +Reset filters puts everything back to how the list starts.

Save it as your default view

  1. 1
    Set the filters
For example Status: Active and only customers.
  2. 2
    Choose Save view…
Above the filter bar. Give the view a name and save it; it appears as a pill above the list.
  3. 3
    Make it your default
With the view open, click its pill again and choose Make default. The Companies list then opens on that view every time you visit, for you alone. Clear default in the same menu undoes it.

Remove a company that lives only in Current

A company that was created in Current and never synced from your PSA has no PSA flag, so it always counts as active. Sales managers and tenant admins can delete it: tick it on the Companies list and press Delete in the bar above the table, then type DELETE to confirm. Delete can't be undone, and it leaves alone any company that came from your PSA or has a won opportunity, any project, a HubSpot link or a sync in progress; the result says how many it skipped for each reason. Everyone else can ask a sales manager or a tenant admin.

Tip
Two records for one company?
If the company you want gone is a second copy of one you still work with, merge the two instead of deleting one. See "The same company twice: find the duplicates and merge them".
