Write an email from a record

You can start a new email from a contact, a company, a deal or a lead without leaving it. Press Email at the top of the record (on a company page it sits beside Business Review), or click the person's email address. A writing panel opens at the bottom right of the screen, over whatever you have open. It is sent from your own Microsoft 365 mailbox, so it lands in your Sent Items and their replies come back to you, and Current's email capture threads those replies onto the record.
- 1Pick who it goes toClick in To and the record's people appear first: the contact you opened it from, a deal's quote contact or a lead's own address, then the company's contacts with the primary contact on top. You can type any other address too, separated by commas. Press Cc Bcc to add copies. An address that isn't a valid email address turns red and nothing is sent until you fix it.
- 2Write itAdd a subject and write the email. The toolbar has bold, italic, underline, bulleted and numbered lists, and links. Dictate and Enhance work here the same way they do in your notes. Draft with AI writes a first version from the record: the company, the deal's stage or the lead's status, and the newest activity. Tell it what you want to say in one line, or leave that blank. It never sees prices, MRR or margin, and Undo puts back what you had.
- 3Attach files if you need toPress the paperclip to attach files from your computer: up to 10 files, each up to 3 MB and 7 MB in all. For anything bigger, share a link instead.
- 4SendPress Send (or Cmd+Enter, Ctrl+Enter on Windows). You get five seconds to press Undo before it goes. Your Current email signature is added under the email; Show it previews it.
- +Remind me in N days (3 by default) adds a to-do for you on that day, linked to the record, in case they haven't replied. If they have, mark it done.
- +An Email sent line lands on the company's Notes & activity (and on the lead's notes for a lead), and the email appears in Email history. It stays in Current: it is never copied into your PSA or HubSpot.
- +The panel minimizes to a bar with the arrow at its top right. Close it and your words are kept in this browser for that record, until you send or delete the draft. Attached files are not kept.
- +On a phone the panel fills the width of the screen.
- +If Microsoft 365 isn't connected, the panel says so with a link to Settings, and offers to open the same email in your own mail app. Sending also needs the Mail.ReadWrite and Mail.Send permissions; if your organization approved Current before they were added, a Microsoft 365 global admin re-approves it on Integrations, then you reconnect.
- +Anyone with CRM access who can see the record can write from it. Partner Viewers and the Finance role can't. You can't send during a support session, because the email would go out as the person you're viewing.
- +If Current can't confirm the email went out, it says so and asks you to check your Sent Items in Outlook before sending again, so the same email never goes twice.
