Milestones: what they are and where they show up

A milestone in Current isn't a separate object — it's a regular task with a milestone flag turned on. That keeps milestones inside the same dependency and scheduling engine as everything else, so a milestone can have predecessors, successors, and a place on the critical path just like any task.

   Open the task

   Any existing task, or a new one you create for the checkpoint itself (e.g. "Go-live", "Contract signed").

   Turn on the Milestone flag

   In the task drawer. This is a Current-only flag — it never pushes to your PSA.

   Save

   The task now renders as a milestone everywhere it appears.

• ＋On the Timeline, milestones render distinctly from ordinary task bars.
• ＋On the Dependencies map, a milestone that's slipping or overdue is flagged as "Milestone at risk" in the diagnostics panel.
• ＋On the partner portal, milestones are part of the safe, non-financial project view a partner can see — status, progress, and position, with no cost or billing data attached.
• ＋In the partner's weekly email digest (when a project has that switch turned on), milestones hit are called out alongside overall progress.

If a playbook task was flagged as a milestone when the playbook was built, every project you clone from that playbook inherits the flag automatically — see "Create a project: from scratch, a playbook, or a won quote".
