Refer a peer and earn free seats
Know another MSP that would get value from Current? Send them your referral link or an invite from Refer a peer. Every seat they pay for takes one tenth of a seat off your own bill, and the credit keeps coming every month they stay a customer.
How the credit works
- +Each seat a referred MSP pays for is worth one tenth of your own seat price off your bill. At $50 a seat that is $5 a month per referred seat.
- +Ten referred seats is one free seat. Partial credit counts right away: a peer with 3 seats takes $15 a month off a $50-a-seat bill.
- +The credit is figured from your own plan and billing currency. On an annual plan it uses the annual price per month.
- +It goes up to a free bill and no further. Your bill never drops below zero, and nothing is banked past it.
- +Your plan's minimum of 3 seats still applies.
| Seats your peers pay for | Free seats for you | Off a $50-a-seat bill each month |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | 0.3 | $15 |
| 10 | 1 | $50 |
| 27 | 2.7 | $135 |
When a referred seat starts to count
An MSP you invite gets a 30-day free trial instead of the usual 14 days. While they are in their trial their seats show as pending on your Refer a peer page. A referred seat starts to count from their first paid invoice.
After that it follows what they pay for. Seats they add later count too, and seats they remove stop counting. If they cancel, their seats stop counting from then on. Credit you already received stays yours.
Where the credit shows up
For a workspace that pays Current by card, the credit comes off your Current invoice as its own line, labelled "Free seats from referrals" with how many free seats it covers and how many seats you referred, for example "Free seats from referrals · 2.7 seats (27 referred)". You see the same line on the invoice in Stripe, on its PDF and in the receipt email Current sends.
- +Billed another way: if your workspace is invoiced by Current directly or has free access, there is no card invoice to put the line on. Your Refer a peer page still counts your referred seats and free seats, and says so.
- +Credit is switched on for workspaces in stages. Until it is on for yours, the credit you earn each month waits on your Refer a peer page and comes off the first invoice after it is on. Nothing you earn is lost.
- +A month's credit never takes an invoice below zero. If it is more than what is left on that invoice, the rest waits for the next one.
- +Monthly plans: each monthly invoice carries that month's credit.
- +Annual plans: the credit builds up month by month and your Refer a peer page shows it as credit waiting for your renewal, while "You pay" shows your plan's price per month as billed. Your renewal invoice then carries all of it as one line, "Free seats from referrals", with the number of months it covers.
How to refer someone
- 1Open Refer a peerClick your avatar in the top bar and choose Refer a peer, the first item in the menu. It shows how many free seats you have earned.
- 2Share your link or send an inviteCopy your referral link and send it however you like, or type the person's email address and add a short note. Leave "Say it's from" ticked to put your workspace's name on the invite.
- 3Watch it fill inWhen they sign up, they appear in your list as on trial with their seat count, then as paying from their first paid invoice.
The emails you get
Current sends two emails about each MSP you refer. They go to the person who sent the invite, or to your tenant admins when the MSP came through your link or the sender has left. Only tenant admins see amounts in them.
- +When they sign up: who joined, the credit their seats could be worth, and that seats they add later count too.
- +When they pay their first invoice: that your bill just dropped, with the free seats you have now.
Who can refer and who sees the money
Everyone on your staff can open Refer a peer, copy the link, send invites and see how many seats you have referred and earned. The money (what you pay, what the credit is worth and your invoices) shows only to tenant admins. Partner Viewers never see Refer a peer.
What the MSP you invite sees
The invite and the signup page tell them who invited them and that they get a 30-day trial. They are also told that your workspace will see their workspace name and seat count, and never their data. That is all you see: their name, their seat count and whether they are on trial, paying or have left.
