Cancelling your subscription (and what happens after)

5 min read · Updated Jul 18, 2026

Cancelling lives on the Billing page (your initials menu, top right — admins only), in a quiet card near the bottom called "Leaving Current?" There's no phone call to sit through and no chat queue to outlast. What cancelling does is simple: auto-renew turns off, and you keep full access through the end of whatever you've already paid for.

Cancelling during your trial

Easy, on purpose. Cancel any time in your 14 days and you're never charged — not on day 15, not ever. We ask one thing: a short reason. A sentence is fine, and it genuinely shapes what we fix. Your access continues through the end of the trial, so you can finish looking around even after you've cancelled.

Cancelling a paid plan

  1. 1
    Before you go
The first screen states exactly what ends and when. On a monthly plan: access through the end of the month you've paid for, no further charges. On an annual plan: access through the end of your term — the date is shown — and no mid-term refund.
  2. 2
    Tell us why
A written reason is required — at least 100 characters and 10 words, with a live counter so you always know where you stand. That's a few honest sentences, not an essay. We read every one, and it genuinely shapes what we fix.
  3. 3
    The CEO meeting offer
One question before you confirm: would you like a meeting with our CEO directly before you cancel? Say yes and his booking page opens (the link also lands in your confirmation email, in case a popup blocker eats it). Say no and nothing else happens. Either way, your cancellation goes through now — a meeting never holds it up.
  4. 4
    Confirm
Auto-renew turns off, you see a confirmation screen with your exact end date, and a confirmation email follows. That's it.

The refund question, answered plainly

Annual terms are never refunded mid-term. When you bought the annual plan you bought a year at a lower rate — about 10% back versus monthly — and cancelling doesn't unwind that trade. What you get instead is everything you paid for: full access, every seat, all the way to the end of the term. Monthly plans work the same way at a smaller scale — access through the end of the month, then no further charges. If a refund matters more to you than the annual discount, monthly is the plan to be on.

Between cancelling and your end date

Nothing changes day to day. Everyone keeps working, syncs keep running, and the Billing page shows a banner: "Auto-renew is off — this workspace cancels on <date>." Right next to it sits a Reactivate button, live until the very end of your term. Changed your mind? One click turns auto-renew back on and the cancellation simply never happens — no new signup, no lost data, no conversation required.

After the end date

At the end of what you paid for, the workspace suspends. Everyone can still sign in, but only the Billing page loads — teammates see a kind note naming the admins who can help, and your partners' portal shows a neutral "temporarily unavailable" screen with no billing details on it. Suspended is not deleted: every project, time entry, deal, and document stays exactly where it was.

Note
Your data is never deleted
Cancelling never erases anything. Your PSA remains your system of record throughout (see "Our methodology: your PSA stays the source of truth"), and your Current workspace is kept intact. If you'd like an export of your Current-side data, contact us from Help → Contact support and we'll arrange it. How your data is handled and retained is set out in the Privacy Policy at https://current.day/privacy, and the subscription terms in the Terms of Service at https://current.day/terms.

Coming back later

The Billing page of a suspended workspace has a Restart subscription button. It shows you the exact charge first — plan, seats, amount, and the card it will use — because a restart is an immediate charge with no second trial. Confirm it and everything picks up precisely where you left off: same projects, same history, same team, same integrations. Nothing to rebuild.
