Add notes from Ask Current
You can save a note on a company, a contact or a deal without opening it. Current works out which record you mean from what you wrote and from the conversation you are in.
- 1Open Ask Current and switch to NotePress ⌘K, then click Note under the conversation or press ⌘J. The box reads "Add a note. Current files it on the right record."
- 2Write the note the way you would say itFor example: "Tom at Harbor Dental wants backup quoted before the renewal." A note can be up to 2,000 characters.
- 3Press EnterCurrent saves the note and shows where it went, with Undo for 10 seconds.
In Ask mode, a message that is plainly a note, such as one that starts with "add a note:", is saved as a note too. A note never counts toward your 50 questions a day.
Which record it goes on
Current looks at the records this conversation has already cited, newest first, and at the names in your note. When one record is a clear match, the note is saved there. When two records are close, it asks "Which record should this go on?" and shows up to three to pick from. Nothing is saved until you pick one.
The note is an ordinary note on that record, written as you. A note on a contact or a deal also shows on its company's timeline, the same as one typed there.
Log a call, or add a to-do
- +Start with "log a call" (for example "log a call with Tom: wants the backup quote by Friday") and Current saves a call on the record instead of a note.
- +Start with "create a task", "remind me" or "to-do" and Current adds a to-do to your own to-dos in Current instead. When you have connected Microsoft To Do, it reaches your list there once the Undo window has passed.
Undo
Changed your mind? Click Undo or press ⌘Z within 10 seconds. The note is removed, nothing reaches your PSA, and the conversation says "Undone. Nothing was saved to" the record. After 10 seconds Undo is gone; remove the note from the record the way you would any other note.
When it reaches your PSA
Nothing is sent while Undo is showing. Once the 10 seconds pass, Current sends the note to your PSA the same way it sends a note you type on the record, and the saved message names your PSA when one is connected. If that send fails, the note is still saved in Current.
Who can add notes, and who sees them
- +Adding notes needs CRM access, the same as writing a note on a company page, and your role's usual limits apply. An account executive, for example, can save a note only where they could write one on the record itself.
- +The same people who can see the record can see the note.
- +Notes go on companies, contacts and deals. To add a note to a ticket or a project task, open it.
- +Notes can't be added while Current's support team is signed in to your workspace to help you, or while the workspace is read-only for billing. Questions still work.
