Create things from Ask Current and the New menu
Ask Current can make the records you describe. Type it the way you would say it, check the draft card it fills in, and press Create. Nothing is saved before you press it.
What you can create
| Say | What Current does |
|---|---|
| "Create an opportunity for Contoso called Firewall refresh" | A card for a new opportunity on Contoso, in your first open pipeline and its first stage. Press Create opportunity. |
| "Create a ticket for Liz Moreno about her laptop" | A service desk ticket for Liz, on her company, with Liz as the person it is for. Needs the service desk. |
| "Add a new company called Northwind Dental" | Opens New company with the name filled in, so you can add the details it asks for. |
| "Add Dana Ruiz dana@harbor.example as a contact at Harbor Dental" | Opens New contact with the name, the email and the company filled in. |
| "Start a project for Contoso called Office move" | Opens New project with the name and the company filled in, so you can choose how it syncs. |
| "Add a task to the Contoso migration project to order the switch" | A card for the task, added to that project. |
| "Remind me Friday at 9 to call Riverbend" | A reminder for you, with the time on the card. |
| "Log 45 minutes on ticket 1234" | Opens Log time filled in. Press Save there. |
| "Book a meeting with Tom Lee next Tuesday at 2pm" | Opens an email to Tom from your own mailbox suggesting that time. Nothing is sent until you press Send. |
Check the draft, then press Create
Every card is a draft. Change the subject, the name, the priority, the date, the time, the length or the email on it before you press the button. A field you clear turns the button off until you fill it in again. To use a different company or person, type it in the box and Current looks it up again.
A new company, contact or project opens the same New form you would open yourself, with what you wrote filled in. That form still asks for what it always does and checks for duplicates, and nothing is saved until you press Create there. When a company with the same name is already in Current, the card lists it so you can open it instead.
When more than one record matches
When a name matches several records, Current asks which one you meant and shows each choice with its city and who manages it. When it can't find the company or contact you named, or none of the choices is right, the last choice is "Create new" with your name filled in: pick it and Current switches to creating that record first. You can also type "create a new one".
Press New in the top bar to create a ticket, a project, an opportunity, a company, a contact, a task, a to-do, a time entry or a meeting without typing. The menu lists only what your role can create, in the order people in your role use most, and the kinds you create most move to the top after you have used them twice. Each one opens the same form as anywhere else in Current.
Who can create what
- +Tickets need the service desk and a service desk role.
- +Projects and project tasks need permission to manage projects.
- +Opportunities, companies and contacts need CRM access as a Tenant Admin, sales manager, account executive, or someone with Full CRM. An account executive adds contacts only on their own companies.
- +Finance, Partner Viewers and a super admin viewing another workspace are never offered any of these, and nothing can be created while the workspace is read-only for billing.
- +Creating a record counts as one question toward your 50 a day. A refusal, a to-do or a reminder does not.
