Flag an opportunity from a ticket or task

Engineers send the buying signals they hear on tickets and tasks straight to the account manager as a lead, in about 20 seconds. Leaders see who flags the most and what it won.

Engineers hear about new needs every day: a partner asks about more licences, a new office, a server that is out of warranty. Flag an opportunity turns what they heard into a lead for the account manager, from the ticket or task they are already working on, in about 20 seconds. Current writes it up, sends it to the right person and keeps score, so the people who spot the most opportunities get the credit.

The Flag an opportunity sheet on a ticket: who it goes to, the summary Current wrote, and the three short questions.

For engineers: flag what you heard

Press Flag an opportunity beside Flag a risk. You find it on the tickets you work in Current, a ticket from your PSA in the ticket drawer included, and on a project task. Partner Viewers never see it.

  1. 1
    Check who it goes to
The top line names the person who will get it, for example "Goes to Sam Ortiz, account manager at Harbor Dental".
  2. 2
    Read the summary
Current reads the ticket or task (its subject, description and the latest customer message, never an internal note) and writes a short summary. Change anything you like.
  3. 3
    Answer up to three questions
What they need, how soon (Now, This quarter, Later or Not sure) and who to talk to. Skip any you don't know.
  4. 4
    Press Send
You see "Sent to Sam. You'll hear back when it moves." with your running count, for example "You've flagged 5 · 2 won".

If the AI is not available, the sheet opens with plain fields and works the same way. You can flag each ticket or task once; a second press shows the day you flagged it. A ticket with no company has no account manager to send it to, so the sheet says so instead.

When a ticket reads like a buying signal, a quiet line appears on it: "Looks like an opportunity", with the reason. Press Flag it to open the sheet, or Not an opportunity to hide the line. The line never appears on a ticket a monitoring tool or another machine wrote, and it never sends anyone an alert.

Who gets it

Current sends the lead to the first person on this list who exists for that company:

  • The company's primary owner.
  • Otherwise a co-owner.
  • Otherwise a sales leader.
  • Otherwise the longest-serving tenant admin.

That person gets a bell and an email (and a Teams message where Teams for your team is on) with the summary and an Open the lead button.

For account managers: qualify the lead

Every flag becomes a lead on your Leads board, assigned to you, marked "From a ticket" with the name of the person who flagged it and a link back to the ticket or task. Qualify it as you would any lead and convert it to an opportunity in one press. A flag never goes into your forecast until you convert it.

From then on the flag follows the record: converted when the lead becomes an opportunity, won or lost when the opportunity closes, set aside when the lead is discarded. The person who flagged it gets a bell when their flag becomes an opportunity and again when it is won. That bell never shows an amount.

For sales leaders: see who flags the most

Open Reports, Sales, Sourced from tickets. It shows opportunities flagged, the ones that became opportunities, the ones won, won revenue and the conversion rate for any date range, each compared with the period before, then a leaderboard of who flagged the most and a table of the companies they came from. Each count sits on its own day: a flag from July won in September is a September win. When two people's flags led to the same opportunity, both count as wins and its value is split between them, so the opportunity is counted once. The conversion rate is the share of the flags raised in the period that have become an opportunity so far. Export it as a PDF or CSV, or schedule it by email like any other report.

On Dashboards, the Top tippers starter board puts the same numbers on a wall: flags, wins, won revenue, a leaderboard of who flagged the most, and this month's top tipper. You can also add any of these tiles to your own dashboard.

Who sees what

WhoWhat they see
Engineers and other staffTheir own flags: how many, which became opportunities and which were won. Never an amount.
Account managersThe flags sent to them, on the Leads board and in the report. Never an amount unless they are also a sales leader.
Sales leaders, tenant admins and financeEvery flag in the workspace, with won revenue.
Partner ViewersNothing. No button, no report, no tile.

What it never does

  • It never changes commissions. Flags are recognition: the leaderboard, the bells and the monthly top tipper.
  • It never sends anything to your PSA. The note it adds to the company's timeline stays in Current.
  • It never copies an internal note into the lead.
