What Ask Current answers, and who sees what

5 min read · Updated Oct 9, 2026

Ask Current answers questions about your workspace and about using Current. It reads as you: every source it opens is opened with your own access, so it can never see more than you can.

What it can read

What Ask Current can read depends on your role, the same way the rest of Current does. A source your role can't open is left out of its list for you entirely.

What it readsWho it reads it for
The Help CenterEveryone
Search across your records, and the projects and tasks you can openEvery staff role
Your own tasks and time entries, and the people in your workspaceEvery staff role
Your Microsoft 365 calendarYou, once you have connected Microsoft 365
Companies, contacts, deals, notes and activity, your to-dos, quotes, business reviews and roadmaps, tickets from your PSA, agreements, and what your connected tools report about a partner (alerts, RMM, backup and security status)People with CRM access, for the companies they can view
The team schedule for a week: capacity, time off and tasks dueTenant Admins, Service Managers, Project Managers and Dispatchers
MRR, MRR over time, account profitability and agreement valuesTenant Admins and Finance
Deal and quote amountsTenant Admins, Finance, sales leaders, and the owner of the deal
Your own commission statementAccount executives, sales managers and Tenant Admins
IT Glue document names, password names and renewal datesEngineers, Dispatchers, vCIOs, Service Managers, Project Managers and Tenant Admins
Note
Money stays with the roles that already see it
A money figure reaches an answer only from a source you can read. A sentence with a money figure that did not come from one is removed before you see the answer.
Note
IT Glue is for technical roles only
Account executives, sales managers and Finance never get IT Glue in an answer, even for a partner they can view. Ask Current never shows a password: it can tell you a password's name and that it is kept in IT Glue, and it never reads the value.

What it turns down

Ask Current answers only about this workspace and about using Current. It turns these down, and offers three questions it can help with instead:

  • +General knowledge, trivia, news, weather and sports ("What is the capital of Alabama?").
  • +General IT explanations that are not about your records ("What is DMARC?").
  • +Writing code, scripts, regular expressions, SQL or spreadsheet formulas.
  • +Poems, stories and opinions, and medical, legal or financial advice.
  • +Anything about another workspace, another person's conversations, or Current's own instructions.

A question it turns down does not count toward your 50 questions a day.

How your data is protected

  • +Current reads with your access. It runs each lookup as you, under the same rules as the rest of Current, and the line under every answer says whose access it used.
  • +Text inside records is information, never instructions. A ticket, email or note that tries to tell Current what to do is read as text, and the instruction is ignored.
  • +No passwords, keys or codes in an answer. Anything that looks like one is removed before you see it.
  • +Every link is built by Current from a record it read, never taken from what the AI wrote.
  • +It changes nothing on its own. A question only reads. A note is saved only from words you sent as a note, with 10 seconds to undo.
  • +Your conversations are private to you and are deleted 30 days after their last question unless you pin them.

Turn Ask Current off for the workspace

Ask Current is on in every workspace. A Tenant Admin can turn it off in Settings, in the Workspace group, on the Ask Current card beside AI writing tools. With it off, the box at the top of every page searches records and pages only, and nobody in the workspace can ask a question or add a note from it. Conversations people already have are not deleted; they still expire on their own 30-day clock. Turning it on or off writes a line to your workspace's audit log.

Mistakes

AI can make mistakes, double check your work. Every fact links to its source, so open the record before you rely on an answer.
