Current Browser extension

Current time capture: privacy

Effective , with version 1.1.0 of the extension. Clarified .

This page explains what the Current time capture browser extension records, where it goes, who can see it, and how to stop it. The extension is published by Current MSP Inc., the company behind Current at current.day.

What it is for

One thing: helping a person who works a ticket or a project task in Current log the time they spent on it. While that ticket's or task's clock runs in Current, the extension notes which sites the person uses, by host name, and for how many minutes. When they stop the clock, they see that list before anything is logged, and they press Log themselves. The extension never creates time by itself.

What it records, and when

What it never records

The ticket's clock

Without the extension, Current pauses a ticket's clock two minutes after the Current tab is hidden. While the extension is recording work sites and the person is at the computer, the clock keeps running when they leave the Current tab. It pauses two minutes after they step away, open a site the extension never records, or stop recording. The person reviews the hours before anything is logged.

Where it is kept, and for how long

Who can see it

Only you see the list. At most, a manager who reviews your time sees the total minutes recorded for an entry, never the list. A workspace admin can see who connected a browser and when it last checked in, so they can disconnect a lost laptop, and never what it recorded. Current's own staff have no screen that shows it.

Current's AI reads your own list to draft your note when you stop the clock; nothing else. That includes the order of your work and, only when page titles are on and you agreed, their titles. The list is sent to Current's AI provider for that one request and is not kept by Current for anything else.

What it is never used for

It is never sold, never used for advertising, and never used for anything unrelated to logging time on a ticket or task. The use of information received from the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How to stop it

A workspace admin can also turn the extension off for the whole workspace. When a person's account is disabled, or their role no longer works the service desk, their browsers are disconnected automatically.

When this changes

A version of the extension that changes what it records or where it goes shows its first-run explanation again and records nothing until the person presses Turn on capture again. This page is updated in the same release.
